Lashes Q & A
Will lash extensions damage my natural lashes?
It’s complicated, but NO, lashes applied at L&B Exclusive will not damage your natural lashes….
Poorly applied eyelash extensions can indeed damage your natural lashes. This can happen when eyelash extensions are too long and heavy for the natural lash to carry, or they are applied without each natural lash being isolated from its neighbouring lashes, therefore ‘gluing’ natural lashes in clumps. These damaging extensions are hallmarks of cheap salons with no ongoing lash education.
L&B Exclusive are lash specialists and we take lash health very seriously. We will never jeopardize your natural lashes by over extending or not isolating lashes. We spend a great deal of time and energy with ongoing training and staying on top of new lash technology to keep your lashes their healthiest and keep you looking your best.
What kind of lashes do you use? What are lashes made from?
We use “silk” lashes, they aren’t real silk (they are a synthetic fibre PBT) A vegan friendly fibre.
How long do they last?
L&B Exclusive recommend getting a refill every 3 weeks to keep them looking their best.
Do eyelash extensions hurt?
From application to daily wear, lash extensions should never hurt you or cause discomfort. If you experience any kind discomfort at all, please let your lash stylist know immediately.
How long does it take to apply a full set of lash extensions?
Between 1-3 hours depending on the lash style chose, we have thousands of hour’s experience in applying lash extensions – however for 100% coverage of your natural lashes applied safely it takes time. Perfection cannot be rushed. If time is a problem for you we offer ‘Express Fills’ done in half the time but every 2 weeks instead of every 3 to get you ‘in and out’ without compromising quality.
How many lashes make a full set?
We apply 100% coverage with every set, meaning every single suitable natural lash has an extension applied to it. Cheaper/quicker sets will only be roughly 40%-60% coverage & the application technique may be unsafe.
When can I not have eyelash extensions applied?
The following may determine that you are not suitable to have eyelash extensions:
- Allergic to adhesives, glues, tapes, band aids or similar products
- Chemotherapy treatment within the last 6 months (medical clearance from your doctor may be required)
- Thyroid condition
- Lasik surgery less than 6 months ago (laser eye surgery) (medical clearance from your doctor may be required)
- Blepharoplasty less than 6 months ago (Eyelid Surgery)
- Where contact lenses
- Have extremely oily hair and skin
- Eye irritation or infection
PREGNANT? It is safe to continue having lash extensions during pregnancy if you already have them on, however it is not advised for women who have never had lash extensions. They should wait until after baby is here to get them on due to pregnancy being a restriction on the medications prescribed by a doctor should an allergic reaction occur. Please advise us of your pregnancy when booking your lash fill. We allow a little extra time for the appointment to ensure comfort, changing your laying positions & toilets breaks.
I saw someone offering extensions for a lot cheaper. Will you price match? Why do you charge more?
No. You can have cheap, or you can have the best. In this industry, you get what you pay for. We invest in the best products, education, on-going training and supplies. This is what makes our work so special and why our skills are so sort after.
I have lashes from another salon, can I book in for a refill with Lash & Brow Exclusive?
Usually no, but book a consultation. We need to see if the previous work done is comparable with our own. If your existing lashes are poorly applied, removal and a full set will be required.
Can I wear mascara after eyelash extensions?
No – wearing mascara reduces the life of your classic eyelash extensions, and will clump together your fluffy volume extensions. You will not feel the need to wear mascara whilst having extensions…….goodbye panda eyes……hello waking up gorgeous.
Getting lashes for my Wedding/Birthday……..
I strongly advise having an allergy patch test/consultation; or having the full set of lashes applied 2-3 weeks before the event and then a lash fill the day before the event. This eliminates the risk of allergic reactions and allows for any styling changes if needed so they are 100% perfect for the special occasion.
What if I have an allergic reaction?
Reactions rarely happen, however for your peace of mind, Lash & Brow Exclusive offer a patch test where a small number of lashes are applied to the eyes. If no reaction occurs within 48 hours you will be able to receive your full set. This eliminates the chance of an acute allergic reaction, however it is still possible to develop an allergy over time. If at any stage of wearing your lash extensions you begin to develop itching, redness, swelling or any other irritation, please contact your doctor immediately for an appointment and please advise me of the situation asap so I can assist you in the after care/removal pending the doctors advise. Patch tests are complimentary with all full set of extensions.
Brow Tattoo Q & A
What is Microblading?
Microblading also known as feather-touch tattooing is a semi-permanent tattoo that is created by using a manual tool with numerous fine needles to create hair like strokes throughout the brow. The strokes are then washed over with a pigment. This technique does not go as deep into the skins layers as a normal tattoo and is therefore considered semi- permanent. If you have blonde, sparse or traumatised (over tweezed) brows, or if you are after a dark defined, full look without the daily maintenance – Microblading is for you.
How long will it last?
Cosmetic tattoo results vary from person to person, as a general guide, it usually lasts up to 12 months before requiring a colour refresh. The duration depends on your skin type, lifestyle and exposure to certain elements, which can cause the ink to fade faster than others. Guests with oiler skin, increased sun exposure, use of Retin A, Frequent skin treatments containing AHA’s and some medications will cause the area to fade faster, and in some cases prevent the hair strokes from staying at all. This will be determined at your Microblading Consultation. Some guests may need a small touch up at 6 months due to the above.
Can I go to work the next day?
Yes. The Procedure will not hinder you from going to work. However, there might be some redness and tenderness & strict cleaning/after care is required so depending on the nature of your work it may be better to plan ahead.
Does it hurt?
Slightly, depending on the individual’s pain tolerance. Anaesthetics are used to numb the treatment area throughout the procedure to keep you comfortable. Slight discomfort may be experienced at the beginning of the treatment, but then is mostly painless throughout the rest of the treatment. Before your appointment – it is important to avoid alcohol/aspirin/fish oil capsules, as these will thin the blood and effect the numbing cream.
How will it look straight after the treatment?
Immediately after Microblading the colour will appear much darker then when the skin has healed in 7 to 14 day’s time. The colour will lighten up to 40%. The size of the treated area will shrink by 15% and your new brows will look much more natural in appearance over the next 4 weeks with more of a soft powder look.
